Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if the weather conditions don’t permit the party to go ahead?
Victorian weather is unpredictable and unreliable. Luckily, we are not!
In the event of bad weather on the day of your party, you will be able to move the location of the event, for no extra cost, to a dry and undercover location. We do not offer refunds or reschedules due to bad weather – the show must go on!
How does the mermaid get into the venue unseen?
Keeping the mermaid magic alive is our top priority, and we will do everything in our power to ensure our mermaids are never seen without their tails by little eyes. However, we need your help to make this possible! We recommend having guests arrive a minimum of 30 minutes before the start time of your event. This way the mermaid isn’t arriving at the same time as any guests, and everyone is there for her big reveal! Your mermaid will message you when she arrives (about 15 minutes before the start time), and will need your help in sneaking in and setting up unseen.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you decide to cancel or reschedule your booking for any reason with more than 4 week’s notice, you will receive a full refund or free reschedule. With less than 4 weeks notice, a 35% deposit/rescheduling fee applies. If you cancel within 48 hours of the event, no refund will be given.
What qualifications do you have?
Our mermaids and mermaid handlers are all experienced working with children around water. Everyone member of the team is fully insured and holds a current WWCC. To ensure things run smoothly, our mermaid handlers accompany every mermaid to water based events, and hold a AUSTSwim Swim Teacher Certification and/or a Lifesaving Qualification.
What happens in the lead up to a party?
Once you have secured a booking with us, you will receive a call from your mermaid herself the week before your event. She will work with you to finalise a sneaky entrance and exit strategy and all other event specific details. You can also contact us at any point in the lead up to your party with any questions you may have.
What happens on the day of a party?
On the day of your event, you can expect your mermaid to arrive 15 minutes before the booked start time to sneak in and set up. Your mermaid will call you when she arrives and will need your help sneaking into the location and setting up without being spotted by little eyes!
What happens after a party?
At your booking end time, the mermaid will ask for your help in moving the guests to a location away from where she is set up, so she can leave unseen. It normally takes our mermaids about 10 minutes to slip out of their fins, gather their treasure and make a quick sneaky exit.
What do you need to provide?
We supply all equipment, music and prizes for your event! For water-based parties, we highly recommend having plenty of swim goggles and floatation devices on hand for the best experience possible. For land-based parties, the mermaid requires a seat, stool or bench to sit on while she entertains.
Do you travel to bookings outside Victoria?
Our mermaids love to flip their fins in new waters. Reach out with your location and we can give you a quote!
